PhishBlock is a security program that detects and blocks Phishing, Pharming, Hacker’s C&C(Command and Control) Servers which are located in databases with URLs, DNS hostnames, and IP Addresses. This program detects and blocks Malware URLs, bad Hosts, and bad IP addresses. Recently, most malware codes are delivered covertly to users’ personal computers through Google ads, SNS, Blogs, BBS and so on, which users visit often. And After the malware codes connect the C&C server(or Botnet), they attack, and steal information, repeatedly and persistently. Generally, virus vaccine programs only detect and block files already existing inside a users’ personal computer. But PhishBlock detects and blocks harmful files at the network entrance of personal computers. This is done by using a network filter driver. So what does this mean? It means that PhishBlock eliminates all viruses from ever entering your computer. In addition, it takes up very little memory and because of the network filter driver, there is no affect on your network performance or CPU usage. And to top it off, it’s free.

Future works

The current version of PhishBlock detects and blocks malware URLs, Hostnames and IP addresses based on databases. It uses very little memory and does not affect network performance or CPU usage. It can be installed and uninstalled safely and quickly. In the future, PhishBlock is going to have many more features. With a new, specialized algorithm for extra protection against pharming malware. We will also offer an ad-blocking feature to eliminate annoying pop-up ads from appearing on your computer. Our users will be able to utilize all of the malware systems on VirusTotal.com without having to directly sign up with them. All of these features will be available in the new version of PhishBlock which will be available soon. The final target of PhishBlock is to offer an affordable, more proactive prevention program to replace traditional vaccine programs.

Terminology

  • Phishing is the attempt to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details (and sometimes, indirectly, money) by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.

So strange!, I also use ChromeBrowser, but I don’t have any message when downloading the files.

But, I got the error message from sourceforge.net

“The sourceforge.net website is temporarily in static offline mode.
Only a very limited set of project pages are available until the main website returns to service.”

So if you can theoretically be making $10k to $500k off a single sale this software, why give it away for free?

Or do you run a business selling this software already, so can ‘afford’ to give away for free?

    1. tuxxon / Post Author

Because I dont know how to sell the programs for windows. And first of all, the reason is because I want to advertize my site – phishblock.org,

      I have nothing for sale.
      Any help?

Hello. I was checking this software out. Is this suppose to be like a firewall or is it just a URL/domain/IP blocker? I am confused because you stated it is suppose to block at network access, which is something I would see in a firewall, but you stated it only block URL, domains, and IPs.

    1. tuxxon / Post Author

      Hello Alex.

It’s not a firewall, It’s just a phishing blocker (or malware blocker) and it is using firewall position at network entrance.
      Phishblock mainly blocks outgoing packets.

And I will add some features to phishblock soon.

      Any suggestion?

Hello tuxxon. I am interested in your program and I would like to help out. I am not a coder or programer, however, I may be able to help you out with something. May I have your email to keep in contact with you?

I have sent my email address at your email address..

Any idea when the next update will be? It’s been over 6 months since the last update.

    Hello tuxxon,
I was wondering if you have a privacy policy or keep logs of visited URLs, etc. No offence, it’s just that lots of software vendors, especially antivirus programs, do log customers’ web activity.

    Hi Tuxxon,

Does your blocker also work for windows10 ?

Do you have a feature of entering a url to be blocked, either by entering the full string, i.e. http://thisisme.org, or also just as a wild card, i.e. http://this*.*
    Thanks & regards from Austria,
    Wilhelm

      Hello.

I dont’ know if it run on win10 at this moment, but I have a plan for working on this project again in 3~4months .
And I think this blocker have the feature blocking the full string url.
But, I havn’t implemented the wild card. but I will do it later. I dont have time for now.

Sorry for that( I have no time )

      Thanks for comment.

Would be nice if you could get this project back up again. It is a nice project and a good replace for Ublock/adblock.

Would be nice if you could update this site to the latest Wordpess version, too. I am noticing a lot of bugs on this site, like the recent comments will show that users post multiple times, even though they only posted once. I also noticed that forum posts doesn’t always show, either.

Would be nice if you could also post the sourcecode as it is against the law to not have a sourcecode up while being under the GPL license.

Also, it would be nice if you could take the project off Sourceforge. Sourceforge isn’t very trustworthy anymore, in my opinion, and it turned more into a commercial thing that a open-source thing.

Anyways. I will consider your words later. For now, I have to make some for a living.
          See you later.

Yes, I got a prosthetic leg now and I am walking like a pro again.
